Because of that, the clamps only fit about halfway, but once installed the tray feels solid and secure. I tested it by giving it a firm tug and it did not move at all, and since my power strip and cables are not especially heavy, stability is not a concern. If your desk has a similar support bar and you want the clamps to sit perfectly, you will need roughly an inch of clearance between the desk edge and the support bar.
